In June 2005, Lee Best and Brian Lockwood opened the Decatur franchise. By the second full year in business, Decatur ranked in the Top 100 offices in EXPRESS. Over 250 companies in Macon, Christian, DeWitt and Piatt Counties have become clients. The Decatur office provides temporary, evaluation hire, and direct hire for industrial, administrative and professional placements.
EXPRESS is the only locally owned and operated staffing service in Decatur. The owners have a personal stake in the business and are fully engaged in the daily operations. Both have extensive hiring and business management experience enabling us to partner at any level of workforce planning, placement and development.
Prior to EXPRESS, the owners each had successful careers in manufacturing at a Fortune 100 company.
Lee Best graduated from Millikin University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. He began his career at Mueller Co. where he advanced to become the chief industrial engineer. Recruited by the Dana Corporation, he accepted the position of engineering manager at their automotive brake plant in Litchfield, IL. He was promoted to manufacturing manager overseeing the production workforce and was later named plant manager. That assignment grew to include a sister plant in Puerto Rico. 750 workers were employed at these two sites with annual sales of $120 million. Lee's career has included extensive travel around the world.
Brian Lockwood is also a graduate of Millikin University with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering. While in college he worked in the engineering department at Mueller Company and upon graduation was hired as an industrial engineer at the Dana Corporation plant in Litchfield, IL. Brian advanced to become general production supervisor over the OEM brake pushrod department and then materials manager for the plant. He managed $55 million in annual purchases and $35 million in inventory including finished product at remote sites across North America. His product sourcing responsibility also resulted in global travel.
The Decatur office has stability and longevity – the core team won't change. Lee Best and Brian Lockwood have led successful careers and family lives. They have worked together for 25 plus years.
